
Chrystal Morris Murphy is the Founder and Managing Director of Onyx Strategies Group, where she advises nonprofit, philanthropic, corporate, and public-sector leaders on strategy, partnerships, organizational effectiveness, and complex collaborative initiatives.
Before founding OSG, Chrystal held executive leadership roles at the National Park Foundation and America’s Promise Alliance, and earlier management roles with Public Education Network, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and the National Breast Cancer Coalition.
Throughout her career, she has helped launch national partnerships, build coalitions, strengthen nonprofit capacity, facilitate high-stakes conversations, secure philanthropic investment, and guide organizations through periods of change and growth. Her work spans public lands, education, philanthropy, conservation, collective impact, board governance, and strategy.
Chrystal is known for asking thoughtful questions, building trust across diverse stakeholders, and helping organizations move from complexity to clarity.
She holds a degree from American University and executive education certificates from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Stanford’s Design Thinking Program, and the American Express Leadership Academy.
She is a BoardSource Certified Governance Consultant and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Western National Parks Board of Directors and the advisory council of Oregon Parks Forever.
When she’s not advising mission-driven leaders, Chrystal enjoys officiating weddings.
